Find the right women experts and diversify your conference, panel, delegation or meeting.
THIS IS THE WOX NETWORK.
Let's face it: women are still strongly underrepresented when it comes to shaping security and foreign policies, be it in ministries, embassies, delegations or international conferences. This needs to change! We have the same right to influence foreign policy as men do, and diverse perspectives lead to better analyses and policy outcomes. By connecting more women experts to policy makers, the WoX network aims to do exactly this: diversifying the spaces where foreign and security policy are being shaped. Are you looking for women experts? Search the WoX network and contact the right expert! Do you identify as a woman and are you a policy expert? Crank up your visibility by creating an expert profile and make it easier to get contacted by policy makers and event planers. What are you waiting for? Not being able to 'identify' women experts is no longer an excuse for a manel (it really never was one in the first place).
One of the biggest problems of foreign and security policy is the hierarchisation of knowledge: Titles and university degrees are often considered much more important than lived experience and grassroots/activism work. But not here! Have you been working to improve access to reproductive rights far away from Twitter and Instagram? Have you been researching about causes of violent conflict but your results have not been published yet? Have you been working on peace mediation without having graduated in peace studies? Register! This database is for women who know what they are talking about, who question the status quo and generate new ideas.
The WoX Network is brought to you by the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, an international research and advocacy organisation dedicated to promoting the potential of Feminist Foreign Policy. The WoX Network has been developed with friendly support from WIIS.de (Women in International Security Deutschland e.V) and the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN). It is being supported by a grant from the Open Society Initiative for Europe within the Open Society Foundations and by a grant from the German Federal Foreign Ministry. The launch of the WoX Network is additionally being supported by the Rights Livelihood Foundation and the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt. All of us share the conviction that a panel or a conference of old white men will not result in the best ideas.
Everyone who identifies as a woman is welcome in our network. To make this explicit we chose to call our network the Women Experts' Network - and not the Female Experts' Network, which would exclude gender-nonconforming people and members of the trans community. Also, have you ever heard about a male network?
Will there be free lunch? No, but diversity matters, so join our network and get your voice heard! This world badly needs you!
